MIRI, March 21: Police arrested a 30-year-old local man on suspicion of his involvement in an arson attack on the door of St Dominic and the Rosary Church at Taman Tunku.
Miri District Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, confirmed that the incident was reported to the police on March 19, 2025.

The suspect was quickly apprehended in Taman Tunku while items such as clothing and tools believed to have been used in the act were seized.
Preliminary urine tests revealed that the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine.
He has been remanded for four days at the Miri Magistrate’s Court until March 24, and is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years’ imprisonment and a fine upon conviction.
Police have urged the public to come forward with any relevant information by contacting the nearest police station or calling 085-433730.
