SONG, March 16: The resurgence of Covid-19 cases here had prompted the district police chief to go to the affected longhouses to check and monitor the situation.

DSP Rowney Michael Jalak yesterday travelled by longboat along the Rajang River to check on two longhouses in the rural areas with his team.

The first place he made a transit was a logging camp, Kem Bergalak and several longhouses in the area, about 3km from the Song.

According to him, 23 of the 31 residents of the camp had been found positive with coronavirus while eight others were ordered to observe quarantine in the camp.

“Two Rela members are now guarding the camp which was placed under lockdown,” he said.

After the logging camp, DSP Rowney proceeded to Rumah Slyvester Panau Ng. Telisau which is located along Sungai Song, about 2km from Song.

“A total of 50 residents of the 32-door longhouse are put under quarantine from March 13 to 24,” he said.

DSP Rowney strongly advised workers of the logging camp and longhouses who are under quarantine to strictly adhere to the SOP and remain where they are during their quarantine period. — DayakDaily
