MIRI, March 13: Police detained four unemployed men and two hawkers during a raid at a government quarters at Jalan Cahaya yesterday evening.
Drugs believed to be methamphetamine worth RM3,000 were also seized.
All the suspects, male aged 23 to 40, were apprehended during the operation between 10pm and 10.30pm.
According to sources, five of the suspects were detained inside one of the quarters unit, while the fifth suspect at the parking lot. The suspects are currently detained at Miri Central police station for questioning.
It was understood that prior to the raid, the suspects have been using the unit for drug abused activities for the past five months.
The case is being investigated under Section 39A (1), Section 15(1)(a) and section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — DayakDaily
