Police arrest intruder at steel factory, two escape

The would-be burglar after being apprehended at the factory.

MIRI, July 9: An intruder was caught while two managed to escape when policemen and 20 Resident Committee (RC) Pujut volunteers rushed to a steel factory in Piasau Industrial Estate here after the factory owner spotted the trio in the wee hours of today.

The intruder was arrested at about 12.30am, which was shortly after the factory owner saw on his mobile phone, which has a link to security cameras in the factory, that there were three unidentified individuals sneaking inside his business premises.

The factory owner immediately alerted the police and RC Pujut.


Once the policemen in a mobile police vehicle (MPV) arrived, several RC Pujut volunteers joined them to conduct a search inside the factory. They manage to nab one intruder after a 15-minute search.

It was believed that the two accomplices escaped after scaling the 8-foot high fence.

The intruder had been brought to Miri Central Police Station (CPS) for questioning. — DayakDaily
