PM reminds BN to work hard, make sure 22-month ‘tragedy’ will not recur as GE15 could be called anytime

Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob

KUCHING, June 1: Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties must work hard, be prepared and strengthen unity to face the 15th General Election (GE15) which could be called “anytime from now” in order to ensure the ‘nightmare’ of 22-months will not recur but instead, maintain the momentum of victories achieved in the past state and by-elections so far.

Prime Minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob stressed that BN should not rest on its laurels although it appears that the people have returned to the political coalition for there is still so much to be done to win the hearts of the people so as to ensure the coalition’s success in GE15.

“The defeat in GE14 was a black moment giving us the most valuable lessons. The tragedy of 2018 saw a change in the country’s political landscape. For the first time after more than 60 years in power, BN had failed to retain power.

“Based on the results of several by-elections and state elections, it is clear that people have regained their trust in BN. This proves that we are able to offer political stability, economic prosperity and national wellbeing,” he said in a statement during the BN Convention in Kuala Lumpur today.

Ismail Sabri, who is also the Bera MP, thus called on all to continue empowering the BN Family based on the concept of the Malaysia family that guarantees the stability of the party to face the GE15.

To prepare for and face GE15, he also outlined three actions that BN can implement with the first, for BN to continue striving to achieve a first class work culture which is defined as a team with strong teamwork, discipline and loyalty to the party.

“BN leaders and members are not only loyal during the good times, but during the challenging periods as well. Those who are in this hall have been tested of their loyalty and they did not move an inch away from the party despite threats, pressure, and tempting offers,” he said.

The second action, he continued, is that BN must continue all efforts to win the hearts of the people.

“As the Prime Minister, I will ensure policies will benefit the people, apart from delivering the best services to the people. The government must always be concerned, looking for the best initiatives and immediately solve local problems,” he said.

The third action is for BN to formulate a winning strategy to ensure victory in GE15.

“The strategy must be focused on strengthening the election machinery between component parties.

“Let’s strengthen our collaboration among component parties. We must also stay away from external elements that try to divide us. Wining GE15 with a two-third majority in the Dewan Rakyat will enable us to continue the agenda of helping people and prospering the country.

“A strong BN government will create political stability in the country, and in turn contribute to the economic prosperity in the region,” he added. — DayakDaily
