KUCHING, Mar 27: Iran has allowed Malaysian oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz following talks with Iranian, Turkish, Egyptian, and other regional leaders.
In a televised address which was broadcast on Thursday (Mar 26), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim thanked Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian for giving Malaysia clearance.
“We are now in the process of securing the release of the Malaysian oil tanker and the crew involved so that they can continue their journey home,” he said, as reported by TVS.
Anwar added that all countries in the Gulf, including Iran, have good relations with Malaysia, with strong ties in trade, culture, education, and investment.
“Therefore, developments there have certainly had an impact, and we have been in daily contact and discussions with them,” he said. — DayakDaily
