KUCHING, June 9: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has agreed to continue the subsidies and price control programmes for chicken and eggs after June 30.

This was announced in a joint statement from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) today.

“Taking into account all aspects including ensuring that the chicken and egg industry remains sustainable and the people’s welfare continued to be protected, YAB Prime Minister has agreed with the proposal of KPKM and KPDN that the provision of subsidies and price control on chicken and eggs be continued from July 1, 2023.

“The last Cabinet meeting on Feb 17 had decided to continue the chicken and egg subsidies from Jan 1 to June 30, 2023.

“The decision to continue the subsidies was taken to ensure that the welfare of the people continues to be maintained in line with the aspirations of the unity government,” the statement read. — DayakDaily
