KUCHING, Dec 5: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will consult with party leaders before announcing the names to fill vacancies in the Madani government cabinet in the near future.

In a Bernama news, Anwar, who also serves as Finance Minister, said that while forming the cabinet is ultimately the Prime Minister’s prerogative, the views of all parties within the Madani government will be taken into account.

“Let me consult first. Yes, it is the Prime Minister’s discretion to seek the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, but as in any democratic process, the opinions of my colleagues are respected.

“I will listen to feedback from party leaders, but my final decision will be made soon,” he told reporters after performing Friday prayers with around 1,500 congregants at Cyberjaya 10 Mosque today.

Anwar was previously reported to be carefully considering the list of ministers and deputy ministers based on prudence, the interests of the people, and the country’s reform agenda.

He also indicated that the upcoming cabinet reshuffle would not involve major changes, but would focus on filling several vacant ministerial positions.

“There is currently no need for a full-scale reshuffle, given that the Madani government has only about a year and a half left in its term,” he said.

The current vacancies in the cabinet include the portfolios of Minister of Economy, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development, and Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry. — DayakDaily
