KOTA KINABALU, Sept 16: Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim has recognised Sarawak’s role as a leading force in the semiconductor hub and energy transition in the region.

He made this remark during the National-level Malaysia Day celebration held at Padang Merdeka, Kota Kinabalu and broadcast live by TVS earlier tonight.

“Malaysia, after the bitterness of the Covid-19 wave, now records a good growth performance; considered as a semiconductor hub and leading in energy transition with Sarawak becoming the centre of our region.

“Additionally, Sabah is now laying the foundation to continue being elevated as a great State in Malaysia,” he said.

Anwar further said these remarkable achievements are made possible due to the presence of unity and harmony.

“Because we are peaceful, working as a team and harbouring no hatred, racial extremism, or pitting against each other, we are able to unite and drive our states to success.

“If Sabah succeeds, Malaysia will also succeed. If Sarawak succeeds, Malaysia will also succeed. If Selangor succeeds, Malaysia will also succeed. This is the spirit that we must nurture in our society,” he emphasised.

The Malaysia Day celebration was graced by Sabah Governor Tun Datuk Seri Panglima Juhar Mahiruddin and wife Toh Puan Datuk Seri Panglima Norlidah RM Jasni.

Amongst those present were Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg; Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor; Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof; Federal Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil; and Sabah Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Christina Liew. — DayakDaily
