KUCHING, March 27: Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim will visit Sarawak on April 19 to host the Majlis Sambutan Aidilfitri Madani (Madani Aidilfitri Celebration), as part of his nationwide tour to celebrate the festive occasion with Malaysians.
The event in Sarawak is one of eight stops on the Prime Minister’s Aidilfitri tour, which also includes Melaka (April 5, which will serve as the national-level celebration), Selangor (April 6), Pahang (April 11), Kelantan and Penang (April 12), Perak (April 25), and Perlis (April 27).
Senior Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, said in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) daily briefing that was aired live on the Prime Minister’s official Facebook page today: “Further details on the venue in Sarawak will be announced by the Performance Acceleration and Coordination Unit (PACU) under the Prime Minister’s Department, which is coordinating the event.”
He further stated that, as in previous years, the Aidilfitri MADANI celebrations will be co-hosted by the federal and state governments, with the Prime Minister expected to attend alongside the respective Chief Ministers, Menteris Besar, and, in the case of Sarawak, the Premier, along with other leaders.
“The Prime Minister, therefore, extends an invitation to all Malaysians, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or culture, to unite and uphold the noble values of compassion, mutual respect, and harmony, which have long been the foundation of Malaysia’s strength.
“This event also serves as a crucial platform to ease interethnic and interfaith tensions, while fostering mutual understanding and celebrating diversity through meaningful interactions,” Nashrul added. – DayakDaily
