“(Referring to Sukma 2024) With Sarawak’s capability to host one of the best sporting events we ever held, I, on behalf of the Malaysian government, agree for Sarawak, together with Malaysia, to host the SEA Games 2027,” he said.

Anwar said this during the closing ceremony of Sukma 2024, held at the Petra Jaya Unity Stadium tonight.

He pointed out that Sarawak also has the best infrastructure and organising committee.

He said that Minister of Youth and Sports Hannah Yeoh and Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) Sarawak Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, including the entire team, have shown extraordinary performance in their preparation and commitment.

“Preparation for the SEA Games would not be a problem for them,” he added.

Meanwhile, on the SEA Games, Anwar said the federal government, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, including the State government, sports associations, and the entire government machinery, must start preparations now.

“Malaysia, as a host, if not a champion, must perform well,” he said. — DayakDaily
