PM: Additional RM600 mil for SMEs in Sarawak, Sabah

KUCHING, March 10: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced an additional RM600 million to develop and support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Sarawak and Sabah.

In a news report by TVS, Anwar said RM100 million would be provided through Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN).

“I am expressing the need to support entrepreneurs and traders in Sabah and Sarawak.

“As such, the (Federal) government will provide a special allocation in the form of micro-loan through BSN amounting to RM100 million and SME loan guarantee facilities worth RM500 million from banks,” he said when delivering his winding up on the Supply Bill 2023 in Parliament yesterday (March 9).

Anwar, also Finance Minister, emphasised the need to reduce the income gap between those living in Peninsula Malaysia and Sabah and Sarawak. — DayakDaily
