Plenty of fun, food and drinks at HSL’s first Oktoberfest at La Promenade Mall

KUCHING, Sept 17: Hock Seng Lee (HSL) kicked off its first Oktoberfest event at La Promenade Mall yesterday (Sept 16), combining live music, food, drinks and fun-runs into a single family friendly event.

The inaugural festival was launched yesterday by Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) councilor Dato Sim Kian Chiok together with HSL directors Yu Ji and Simon Lau.

Oktoberfest @ La Promenade will be held every Thursday to Sunday, starting Sept 16 until Oct 9, with music performances from various artist such as At Adau, a seven-piece band, and many others, including a wide choice of food, which is both halal and non-halal.

Apart from that, all the mall’s halal certified tenants including SugarBun, NOMS Malaysia, Taka Patisserie have special promos for the duration of the event.

Local celebrity chef Chef Achang Libat, is also running a booth selling Ayam Pansuh related dishes.

“It gives me great pleasure to return to La Promenade Mall so soon after the success that was Dine With Art at Hoan Gallery,” Achang said.

Among other, Oktoberfest @ La Promenade Mall booths include GE Sausage, Ajishou Sushi, Zoro by Domus Group, and a select few popular booths from the just concluded Kuching Food Festival.

Also taking part at the Oktoberfest event is Foo Man Ting and Rume Dining. These are two new HSL affiliated restaurants opening at the mall and at Gala City soon, offering previews of their Chinese and Western cuisine.

Anchor tenants of the Oktoberfest are local distributors of Carlsberg, Heineken, Tiger, Asahi and more, including a cocktails bar.

HSL digital marketing manager Sophia Ong said through Oktoberfest, Weekend Night Runs, La Promenade Mall is further establishing itself as a community space.

“We’ve also just launched a Payday Weekend Bazaar, which is every last and first weekend of the month.

“We’re also sponsoring board games competitions, hosting blood donation drives, and planning for Sunset BBQs, more stand-up comedy, and art exhibitions,” she added.

Earlier on, Sim also flagged off La Promenade Weekend Night Run before the launching ceremony of Oktoberfest @ La Promenade.

The weekly night run of 3km and 6km at La Promenade is free. Having only launched in three weekends ago, almost 400 participants have signed up.
