KUCHING, March 11: A plantation worker was found dead near the main gate of an oil palm plantation in Lundu on Friday night (March 10) after what was suspected to be a disagreement.

Lundu police chief DSP Damataries Lautin said the victim was a 25-year-old man from Kampung Senibong Sejirin in Lundu.

According to Damataries, a witness claimed that the victim came to the guard house at 9.20pm, informing that he wanted to meet his younger sibling in front of the fence outside the guard house.

“After about ten minutes, a silver Perodua Bezza approached the guard house, which the victim moved towards.

“Approximately five minutes later, the witness saw the victim running towards the guard house while being chased by the suspect.

“Upon reaching the fence, the victim is said to have collapsed, and the suspect fled from the scene,” he said in a statement today.

He added that the security guard on duty contacted his employer and then lodged a police report at around 10.10pm.

“Preliminary investigations believe the victim had a disagreement with the suspect and was hit with a blunt object,” he said.

He said the case is classified as murder and is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The suspect in the case is unknown and drives a silver Perodua Bezza car,” he added. — DayakDaily
