KUCHING, June 18: The director-general in the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Environment will come to Malaysia to meet the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities next week.
Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof, who also heads the ministry, revealed that the visit would enhance the relationship and extend the discussion they had in Brussels.
According to a news report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the meeting is to finalise the steps and direction taken by Malaysia and the EU, mainly on exporting agricultural commodities.
“One of the discussions is to make sure that smallholders of palm oil producers in Malaysia do not exit from the world supply chain on that commodity,” he said.
Also present is Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63, and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali. — DayakDaily
