KUCHING, Oct 14: Several roads in Kuching will be closed ahead of the Sarawak Regatta 2025 and Kuching Waterfront Festival, which will be held from Oct 24 to Nov 2 at Kuching Waterfront here.
In a statement, Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said that from midnight tomorrow (Oct 15) to midnight on Nov 5, the road from Jalan Gambier to Main Bazaar will be closed to facilitate the setting up of canopies and preparation works.
From 6am to noon on Oct 25, the following roads will be closed for the opening ceremony of Sarawak Regatta 2025:
- Lebuh Wayang to Main Bazaar
- Lebuh Temple to Lebuh Wayang
- The traffic light at St Mary to Lebuh Wayang
- The traffic light at Jalan Pearl to Jalan Wawasan
Following that, from 7am to 6pm on Nov 2, the road from Lebuh Wayang to Main Bazaar will be closed; and from noon to 6pm, the following roads will be closed for the closing ceremony of the regatta event:
- Lebuh Temple to Lebuh Wayang
- The traffic light at St Mary to Lebuh Wayang
- The traffic light at Jalan Pearl to Jalan Wawasan
He urged those attending the events to avoid parking along the roadside, plan their journeys, and use alternative routes to help ease traffic congestion.
