Plan for permanent site for APM facilities to serve Bau and Lundu

KUCHING, Aug 25: A permanent site for Malaysian Civil Defense Force (APM) facilities has been planned for to serve Bau and Lundu.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today, Deputy Transport Minister II Dato Henry Harry Jinep said it is part of the efforts to improve the efficiency of APM members I helping the wider community in the event of any emergency or disaster.

“We are looking for a location including government land to erect a permanent building.


“After this, the APM director can bring the application to the higher authorities to find a more suitable area,” he said during the closing ceremony for the 65th Independence Month Training and Formation and the State Level celebration of the 70th Platinum Decade of APM in Sarawak held in Bau on Wednesday (Aug 24).

Henry, who is also the Tasik Biru assemblyman, added there is also a short-term plan proposal to upgrade a 30-acre rural homestay in Sematan to include facilities and equipment that can be used by APM Sarawak for training purposes.

Meanwhile, Henry said, the Independence Month training and formation in the Tasik Biru area is an initiative of Sarawak APM to further improve its functions and services.

“This will provide awareness to every level of society about APM which functions as a rescue agency that is always ready to lend help during disasters or to face dangerous situations,” he said. — DayakDaily
