SRI AMAN, April 6: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sri Aman coordinator Norina Umoi Utot has revealed her intention to contest in the Bukit Begunan state seat in the next state election, which is due in 2021.

Norina, who contested in the Sri Aman parliamentary seat and Simanggang state seat in the past, said she was confident this time around because support for PKR had been gathering pace.

Currently, the Bukit Begunan assemblyman is Datuk Mong Dagang from Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS).

“We are getting ready for this PRN12, and in terms of machinery, I am confident they are ready to move at any time,” she said at a dinner to open PKR Bukit Begunan operations centre here Friday evening (April 5).

Meanwhile, PKR vice president Ali Biju said Pakatan Harapan (PH) aimed to take over the state government in the next polls.

He said this was possible since PH manage to take over the federal government during last year’s general elections (GE14) on May 9.

Apart from that, Ali said he had been receiving positive indications from Sarawakians, who wanted a change in the leadership of the state government.

“If PH is capable of forming a new government at the federal level, it is not impossible for the same situation to happen in Sarawak in the coming election. I’m confident the people of Sarawak want a leadership change to ensure better development for the Land of the Hornbills,“ he said.

Ali, who is also Saratok MP, said PH would ensure Sarawak’s progress would not be neglected like during the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration.

He urged PKR members to work hard and start serving the people now and not to wait until the election is near to do so. — DayakDaily
