KUCHING, Dec 3: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has just announced that it will field Hapeni Fadil in Simunjan for the coming 12th Sarawak Election.

PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the entry of Hapeni will bring the total number of PKR candidates in the State polls to 28, instead of the original 27 seats announced by PKR Sarawak branch election director Dominique Ng earlier this evening.

“This additional candidate was made at the last minute following requests by the locals and non-governmental organisations (NGOs),” he told a press conference at PKR Bandar Kuching office in Kuching tonight.

He also said that it is in the party’s interest to ensure that the working relations in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition with the Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) remain intact.

“Therefore, the controversial Senadin seat which we thought was rightfully PKR’s, will be given to DAP candidate Michael Teo who has been working there extremely well.

“I think in the spirit of togetherness and long term relations, we then support the DAP candidate in Senadin as agreed,” he added.

At the same time, Anwar advised his colleagues in PKR to display humility and work hard to achieve the desired results in the coming polls.

He admitted that the PKR is a poorer party when compared to the local giants, but assured that PKR will continue to practice modesty to appeal to the sentiments of the locals. — DayakDaily
