KUCHING, Jan 11: Repair works on the 1050mm MSCL pumping main at Jalan Haji Baki, Batu Kitang, and the 600mm DI pipeline at Jalan Puncak Borneo were completed at 7.30am today and 11.12pm on Saturday (Jan 10), respectively.

In two statements issued, Sarawak Water said that the water supply will be gradually restored, and water pressure may build up slowly.

“Consumers are advised that water pressure will improve gradually as the pipeline is re-pressurised in a controlled manner to ensure system safety and operational stability,” it said.

During this period, it was also noted that temporary discoloured or cloudy water may be experienced in certain areas.

“This is a short-term condition caused by the disturbance of sediments within the pipeline following repair and re-pressurisation works.

“Sarawak Water will continue to carry out systematic flushing operations in stages, and consumers are advised to allow the water to run briefly should any discolouration occur,” it said.

Sarawak Water also added that it will continue to closely monitor system performance and water quality. — DayakDaily
