“This is aimed at significantly improving road conditions for residents,” he said in a press statement today.

The first phase, which was implemented in 2020, saw 12.48 kilometres of paved roads completed, benefiting 294 households.

For the second phase in 2021, the project added 4.56 kilometres, assisting 426 households, followed by another 3.55 kilometres later that year, benefiting 85 households.

According to him, last year, about a kilometre of the road was completed in the fourth phase to benefit the remaining 53 households.

“Over the past four years, about 28 kilometres of rural roads in Batu Kawah have been upgraded, benefiting 1,131 households, and the road upgrade programme will continue in a systematic and phased manner,” he added.

On the same note, Dr Sim urged residents to help with the supervision of works carried out by the awarded contractors and to promptly report any issues during the construction phase to his N14 Batu Kawa Service Centre.

“With the unwavering support of the Sarawak Government and our Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, the entire community must rally together and seize this opportunity to transform Batu Kawah into a thriving and prosperous region for all,” he added. — DayakDaily
