KUCHING, Mar 8: The fourth phase of the former logging roads upgrade project in Sarawak for the Miri Division has recorded an implementation progress of 69.46 per cent, which is ahead of schedule by 20.76 per cent.
According to the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR), the project is expected to be completed by April 2027.
The project, which forms part of the Sarawak government’s efforts to improve connectivity in rural and interior areas, involves upgrading Jalan Ba Mubui over a distance of 6.1km and Jalan Long Tungan spanning 8.6km, providing a safer and more comfortable route for road users.
In addition, the project also includes the construction of a Bailey bridge at Batang Baram, as well as two Rolled Steel Joists (RSJ) bridges—namely Sungai Selaan Bridge in Ba Mubui and Sungai Batu Buan Bridge in Long Tungan—to improve accessibility and strengthen the transport network in the area.
“The implementation of this project is expected to bring significant benefits to local communities by improving connectivity facilities, while supporting socio-economic development in the rural areas of the Miri Division,” said the department. — DayakDaily
