The notice on Petros upcoming tender projects.

KUCHING, Feb 10: Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) will tender two gas hub projects in Miri and Samalaju in the second quarter of this year.

According to a notice posted by Sarawak First Media on Facebook, Petros is targeting to create four major gas hubs in Miri, Bintulu, Samalaju, and Kuching under the company’s Sarawak Gas Roadmap (SGR).

The gas hubs would be implemented through a hub-and-spoke model to deliver domestic gas access, which is expected to spur economic activities in the region.

The above gas hub capital projects will be executed in phases, starting with the Miri Hub and Samalaju Hub.

The Miri Gas Hub project involves the construction of a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) 400MW power plant in Lutong Miri.

Meanwhile, the Samalaju Gas Hub project, which is partnered with Sarawak Energy Berhad, involves the planned laying of an estimated 65km 24” gas pipeline transmitting 300 million metric standard cubic meters per day (mmscd) of feed gas from Tanjung Kidurong to Samalaju Industrial Park (SIP) via offshore to feed a proposed 800MW CCGT power plant and industrial other users within SIP.
