Petronas vs Sarawak govt case struck out


KUCHING, June 22: The Federal Court today struck out Petronas’ appeal to have an exclusive rights over oil and gas in Sarawak.

The judgment was made by Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Ahmad Maarof.

When contacted Assistant Minister of Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali said the implication of the case was that now Sarawak can enforce its Mining Ordinance 1958 which will require Petronas to obtain licence from Sarawak to operate here come July 1.
