“This effort reflects PETRONAS’ commitment to the development of education and community welfare,” Norazibah said.

She added that PETRONAS will also continue to emphasise developing education.

Serumbu assemblyman Miro Simuh was also present at the event, where he thanked PETRONAS for the initiative to focus on education in Bau.

Yesterday (Jan 16), a similar programme was also held at SK Salak in Kuching which benefited 91 school children.

Under the same programme, PETRONAS gave out vouchers to 252 students under the Sarawak Orphan Children Welfare Association (PERYATIM) in Kuching, Bau, Bintulu, and Miri to buy basic school supplies to alleviate the financial burden on parents.

“The programme targets to ensure students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, do not face obstacles to their education due to financial constraints.”

The ‘PETRONAS Powering Knowledge Back to School 2025’ programme will be expanded to other areas such as Kuching, Bau, Sibu, Bintulu, and Miri, which is expected to benefit 760 students. — DayakDaily
