MIRI, 17 March: Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) through its subsidiary, Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB) today contributed medical essentials to some 600 healthcare workers and enforcement personnel involved in the Covid-19 vaccination drive in Miri.
These include 4,500 face masks, 1,400 gloves, 500 sets of surgical gowns, disposable aprons, head and shoe covers, face shields, 70 bottles of hand sanitisers as well as over 2,000 bottles of mineral water.
PCSB presented the items to the frontliners comprising enforcement officers under the Miri Resident Office, members of the Royal Malaysia Police, the Miri Fire and Rescue Department as well as healthcare workers at the Miri General Hospital, yesterday.
“In conjunction with the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccination programme in Miri, we are doing our part to contribute towards the safety of the officers and healthcare workers who are on duty throughout the programme by making sure they have sufficient protective gear and are kept hydrated. We are truly grateful to these front-liners who have been working round the clock and risking their health to curb the spread of Covid-19,” PCSB-Sarawak Oil Division, senior general manager Morris Mail said in a statement.
“As a responsible and caring organisation, we will continue to work closely with the relevant government agencies as part of our commitment to assist in improving the wellbeing of society, especially in these challenging times. Our priority is also in the health and safety of our employees and the surrounding communities where we operate,” he added.
The contributions complement initiatives by Petronas through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm, Yayasan Petronas as well as other groupwide contributions in responding to the pandemic and ensuring adequate preparedness. — DayakDaily
