BINTULU, May 16: This year’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Gawai Dayak celebrations will be merrier for some 1,200 low-income families here and in Miri, Sarawak.

Petronas, through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm Yayasan Petronas and principal marketing arm Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB), has reached out to the families with essential food items and Petronas Mesra Gift Cards to ensure they are able to celebrate these festivities in a more meaningful way.

Under the company’s signature Sentuhan Kasih programme, the beneficiaries are given food essentials such as rice, milk, cooking oil, eggs, canned food, anchovies and flour.

Some 200 families in Bintulu received the aid yesterday, while 900 families in Miri had received theirs earlier this week.

Last week, the donation was also distributed to 100 deserving families as well as healthcare and enforcement frontliners at various settlements in the district of Baram, such as Long Seridan, Long Kevok, Long Bedian, Telang Usan, Long Lama, Beluru, Marudi, Long Laput, Long Teran Batu and Long Tabing.

These contributions were distributed to the recipients by Welfare Department on behalf of Petronas and its subsidiary companies namely Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd – Sarawak Oil, Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd – Sarawak Gas, Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd and Asean Bintulu Fertilizer Sdn Bhd.

PDB’s station dealers in Bintulu, as well as the Sabah-Sarawak Gas Pipeline (SSGP) project team also assisted in the distribution of the food essentials.
