KUCHING, June 14: Democratic Action Party (DAP) Stampin today submitted a petition to Kuching South City Council (MBKS), urging for the upgrading of sections of the public park in Stampin Resettlement Scheme to include a futsal and basketball court.
Michael Kong, special assistant to Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen, said the petition has gathered a total of 204 signatures.
He highlighted that the Lorong 2 public park in the Stampin Resettlement Scheme has been in existence for several years without any improvements.
“Unfortunately, due to inadequate maintenance, the park has gradually deteriorated. Recognising the lack of attention given to the public infrastructure in this area, the DAP Stampin parliamentary team believes this petition is necessary.
“We firmly believe that enhancing the park’s facilities will significantly improve the residents’ quality of life and foster a stronger community spirit,” he said in a statement today.
With the petition submitted to MBKS, Kong hopes that Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng and the Council will carefully consider this initiative and grant permission to proceed with the much-needed upgrade of the park facilities.
“By working together, we can create a positive impact for the benefit of all residents,” he added. — DayakDaily
