KUCHING, Feb 20: Sarawakians are warned not to fall prey to the promises made by the PH federal government.
Political observer Datuk Peter Minos cited the federal government’s response to repairing the dilapidated schools in Sarawak despite RM700 million funds received in a contra loan payment scheme agreed upon between the state and federal governments.
“Education is under the jurisdiction of the federal government. Repairing of dilapidated schools is the duty of the federal government.
“But they have not done their duty and in trusting them, the Sarawak government has paid the contra payment of RM700 million out of the RM1 billion of contra loan to the federal government.
“But, the PH federal government did not use it to repair dilapidated schools in Sarawak as agreed.
“And this is very bad of the PH federal government, specifically the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance,” he said in a statement.
Peter opined that the state government should not pay the RM300 million balance of the contra loan back to the federal government.
He stated that it was time for Sarawak to rely on its own resources and the people should support the state government in its efforts to fight for its rights. —DayakDaily
