KUCHING, Jan 23: Continuous overnight rainfall caused a landslide near Rh Sekapan Piit, Belaga, early morning today.
Despite the disruption to the riverbank, the road leading to the village remains accessible to vehicles.
The Belaga fire and rescue department (Bomba) received a call at 7am and quickly deployed a team of four personnel, arriving at the scene within 28 minutes.
Under Senior Fire Officer II Lawrence Linggi, the team reported that the landslide had affected the riverbank but did not obstruct road access.
In response, the Bomba team erected warning barriers along the affected stretch and advised residents of the longhouse to be cautious when travelling through the area.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported, and no other agencies were required on-site.
The situation was under control with the Bomba team using a Triton vehicle to reach the site, located 6km from the Belaga Fire Station. The Fire and Rescue team will continue to monitor the area for any further developments. –DayakDaily
