MIRI, Feb 28: The new Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Kidney Dialysis Centre in Permyjaya here is expected to be ready for use in September this year.
This was disclosed by Minister for Transport Sarawak Datuk Lee Kim Shin, who is also Senadin assemblyman.
The centre was supposed to be ready in March but due to the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) following the Covid-19 pandemic, the construction works were delayed.
“The construction of the new MRC Kidney Dialysis Centre is 90 per cent completed.
“The centre is to be fully equipped with 40 dialysis machines, imported from Germany, and can accommodate 249 patients,” said Lee when met on Saturday after conducting a briefed visit to the site in Permyjaya.
The cost of the project is about RM5.4 million.
For the record, the existing dialysis centre at Jalan Bulan Sabit here has 344 patients and is congested due to the increasing number of patients.
The completion of the new building in Permyjaya will help to reduce congestion at the existing dialysis facility in Jalan Bilan Sabit. — DayakDaily
