BETONG, Sept 2: The perimeter surveying works on Native Customary Right (NCR) land under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code will begin in the Layar area.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Betong Division Land and Survey Department superintendent Moris Nayup said the perimeter survey initiative will involve the latest methods, starting from the individual role of the landowner, the local community and also the role of the department itself.
“The emphasis is on how the local community will document NCR land in tracing and drawing individual boundaries.
“The data that has been obtained will then be forwarded to the Land and Survey Department at the same time to facilitate the implementation of individual lot measurement works to be gazetted under Section 18,” he explained during a briefing programme organised by Betong Division Land and Survey Department in Betong last Thursday (Sept 1).
Also present at the programme was Deputy Minister of Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development-cum-Layar assemblyman Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu.
After the briefing, Gerald Rentap headed to Layar Constituency Service Centre to present Minor Rural Project (MRP) cheques to several recipients.
On the same day, he conducted a walkabout to Ulu Spak, Betong to inspect the implementation of Phase 1 of the construction of a road connecting Ijok, Teguyu, Lempaong, Batu Pesok, Rantau Layang and Perdu which is behind schedule.
Also present were political secretary to Premier of Sarawak, Dr Richard Rapu; Sarawak Youth and Sports Department director Lamat Nyalau; Pemanca of Iban community in Betong, Norman Ngumbang; Penghulu of Layar Tengah, Stanley Ejau; and Gerempung Tuai Rumah (GTR) Layar, TR Gebriel Spencer Sang. — DayakDaily
