KUCHING, Nov 8: Peggy Hii was among the happiest participants at the 7th edition of the Mayor’s Walk 2026 after winning a bicycle as the first prize in the event’s lucky draw.
She was among thousands who took part in the 3km non-competitive walk held at Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Boulevard today.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian officiated the event and flagged off participants at the starting point near the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Boulevard.

MBKS Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng expressed satisfaction with the public turnout, although participation was lower than in previous years.
He said the annual walk promotes a healthy lifestyle and supports the Kuching Healthy City initiative by encouraging residents to stay active and participate in outdoor activities.
“The annual walk provides an opportunity for residents of different ages to come together, exercise and enjoy a healthy morning while supporting Kuching’s efforts to become a healthier and more active city.
“It’s part of the council’s vision, and we want to see more people taking part in outdoor activities and paying greater attention to their health,” he told reporters when met at the event venue today.
The programme also featured a Zumba session, with Wee, his deputy Dato Zaedi Suhaili, and MBKS councillors joining participants in the exercise.
The lively session added to the morning’s activities, bringing residents together through fitness and community participation.
