KUCHING, April 22: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has denied rumours claiming that individuals not wearing face masks would no longer be fined.

PDRM corporate communications chief ACP Skandaguru Anandan stressed that all standing Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) would continue to be enforced, notwithstanding the country’s transition into the endemic phase since April 1.

“PDRM will continue to issue compounds to any parties who violate the SOPs under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342),” he said in a statement issued last night (April 21).
