KUCHING, Mar 15: Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president Dato Sri Tiong King Sing has reminded party members to fulfil their responsibilities and not treat their membership as a platform for personal gain.
In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report, Tiong, who is also the federal Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, urged party members to continue upholding honesty, sincerity and the spirit of unity to ensure the party remains strong and respected by other parties.
“We, as members of this party, must be honest and carry out our duties sincerely towards fellow party members as well as the public.
“We should not join the party for our own personal interests,” he said at the tri-annual general meeting of the PDP Kemena Division held at Rumah (Rh) Agnes Mampak, Sebauh, on Saturday (Mar 14).
He also stressed the importance of honesty and close cooperation among members as the foundation of the party’s growth.
Additionally, Tiong also encouraged party members to remain active in promoting PDP membership to ensure the party continues to expand and remain relevant in the future.
During the meeting, Datuk Ukar Kelayang was once again chosen as chairman of the PDP Kemena Division, with Empaling Tuan as deputy chairman, as well as Mampak Mandaw and David Bedali as the division’s Women’s and Youth chiefs, respectively. — DayakDaily
