KUCHING, Feb 11: Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing hopes that the gloomy “winter” of the Covid-19 pandemic will soon be over so as to allow the people to have warm and joyous ‘spring’ in the coming New Year of the Ox.

“At the start of the year, we still bear the burden of the battle with the pandemic. Some of us do not even have the chance of a reunion with our loved ones. Nevertheless, let’s all hold on to the faith that the winter will thaw. By working together, we will win this war against the pandemic soon to enjoy life with our family and friends.
“The warmth of spring will soon bloom following these wintery months. With the advent of the new year, let’s adopt a spirited resolve to plant the seeds of our future success now, ready ourselves to grow the stagnant economy again, and embrace success in due time,” Tiong said in his Chinese New Year message.

“I hope that in the new year, we will join hands with bullish determination and tenacity for greater yields this year. Let’s not forget to take the opportunity to give our thanks to our frontliners. During the long pandemic, they have held the line and put their backs in to help preserve our people. They have sacrificed much to curb the pandemic for all of us,” he said.
