KUCHING, March 29: The Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) is ready to defend all its State seats in the upcoming 13th Sarawak Election (PRN13).

According to TVS, the party’s deputy president, Dato Henry Harry Jinep, said that any parties not under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition that intend to contest in PDP’s areas are considered their opponents.

“On behalf of GPS, PDP would like to announce that GPS will defend all 72 seats in the upcoming election. Any party outside of GPS will be considered an opponent for us at that time, and we will leave it to the voters to determine the outcome.

“The voters in Sarawak surely understand which party they should support in the upcoming PRN, because only GPS is truly safeguarding Sarawak’s rights at this time,” he said to reporters during a programme at Rumah Panjang Velly Rabong Ulu Skrang in Engkilili on March 28.

The Tasik Biru assemblyman said this in response to rumours that Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) is interested in fielding candidates in the Engkilili and Ba’ Kelalan State seats.

He added that PDP, as a component of GPS, will also participate in defending all 82 seats under GPS, as stated by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is also the coalition’s chief.

For the record, the Engkilili and Ba’ Kelalan State seats are currently represented by Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa and Baru Bian of PDP, respectively, after the dissolution of the Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB). — DayakDaily
