KUCHING, May 9: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) will hold a People’s Parliament from 3.30pm to 6pm on May 17 within the vicinity of the Old Kuching Court House and Kuching Waterfront.
In a statement, party president Voon Lee Shan said this is to explain to the public PBK’s stand and strategies on how to protect the State’s oil and gas resources under the Petroleum Development Act (PDA) 1974, as well as touch on other matters related to oil and gas.
“We shall also speak about the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), which legal experts viewed as an invalid or illegal treaty or international agreement,” he said.
He added that PBK would also explain to the public the reasons why Sarawak is unlikely ever to receive a fair share of the nation’s oil and gas resources.
At the same time, the party will also raise issues about the current political situation affecting Sarawak.
“Police had been informed of this People’s Parliament, and members of the public are invited to come.
“Under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012, police are to provide public security and cannot simply harass any persons attending the assembly.
“The right to hold peaceful public assembly is protected by law and the constitution,” said Voon. — DayakDaily
