KUCHING, Sept 6: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) is calling for legal action to be taken against those involved in the bribery case surrounding Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who was found guilty on all counts recently.

Its president Voon Lee Shan said in bribery cases, there are givers and receivers of the bribe.

“Both the givers and receivers of the bribe in corruption cases should both be brought to court and punished.

“Sometimes there are brokers or middlemen that go in between the giver and receiver of the bribe. They are accessories to the crime and must be charged too.

“The authorities in enforcing law and order should not allow the accessories and giver of the bribe to scot-free and only send the receiver to face the law,” said Voon in a press statement today.

He said this in response to Rosmah Mansor’s conviction and sentence to three corruption charges by Justice Mohamed Zaini against her involvement in a sum of about RM187.5 million as an inducement to help a local company to secure a project for the supply of solar hybrid energy to rural schools in Sarawak.

Voon claimed that the public is now anxious to know whether the relevant authorities have charged others involved and the giver of the bribe in the case of Rosmah Mansor.

He held that the relevant authorities owe an explanation to the public why the accessories of the crime and giver of the bribe are not charged, if this was not done yet.

“The public are anxious and have the right to know of action taken by the authorities because the bribe money came from taxes collected from the public,” said Voon.  — DayakDaily
