KUCHING, Aug 15: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) today introduced the party’s vice president Peter Asut as the potential candidate for N81 Ba Kelalan constituency in the upcoming state election.

Peter, who is a retired senior assistant environmental health officer in the Ministry of Health, chose PBK as his political platform as he shares the party’s vision and mission to set Sarawak free and independent from the Federation of Malaysia.

PBK president Voon Lee Shan said that Peter aims to fight for the people of Sarawak especially the Dayak community as in his years of experience in employment, he observed that both the state and federal governments have not done enough to deliver the needs and expectations of the people.

“In his travels to the rural and interior of Sarawak, he noted the lack of infrastructure and he could feel the struggles of the people in many places without proper treated water, road accessibility and medical facilities especially those who were sick but unable to seek treatment.

“The ground assessment on Peter indicates that he stands a good chance to win the seat for PBK in Ba’ Kelalan,” he added a statement today.

Peter holds a Diploma in Environmental Health from the Public Health Institute Kuala Lumpur.

Under the Ministry of Health, he had travelled widely throughout Sarawak to supervise the implementation of clean water supply to villages under the Rural Health Improvement Scheme Programme (RHIS) to uplift the health standard of rural health communities.

Peter is the former deputy president of Health Inspectors Union Sarawak (2013-2014) and also former treasurer of the Lun Bawang Community Development Society Sarawak (2017-2018).—DayakDaily
