KUCHING, July 2: The motion for all Members of Parliament to declare their assets should also apply to high level government personnel.
Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDSB) deputy president Andrew Puro claimed that some of them live lavish lifestyles and do not portray themselves as civil servants.
“This Bill (sic) if extended to them will be effective to curb corruption at the highest level,” he said in a statement
“If we really want to fight corruption, don’t do it halfway. Overhaul the whole system.”
Andrew is however pessimistic that such declaration of assets will ensure zero corruption.
“People might think it is a good way to declare assets but forget that all final decisions regarding projects and tender is under the purview of high level directors and agencies and even Members of Parliament,” he said. — DayakDaily
