KUCHING, Sept 28: Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) believes that the increase in parliamentary seats for Sarawak and Sabah is more than just numbers— it is about strengthening unity and ensuring that every community, especially those in rural and indigenous constituencies, can be heard at the national level.

In a statement, PBDS president Dr John Brian Anthony said that the addition of new seats opens the door for greater participation, stronger representation, and a brighter future for all Malaysians.

He said this in response to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s confirmation that parliamentary seats in Sarawak and Sabah will be increased.

“After more than three decades, this step reflects a renewed recognition of Borneo’s rightful voice within Malaysia’s democratic framework,” he said.

John then called on all stakeholders, federal leaders, state governments, community representatives, and civil society to work hand in hand in shaping this process with transparency and fairness.

“Together, we can ensure that the new constituencies reflect the true diversity and aspirations of our people.

“PBDS stands ready to contribute constructively, guided by our vision of unity, inclusivity, and progress. Let this development mark a new chapter of cooperation, where Sabah and Sarawak stand shoulder to shoulder with the rest of Malaysia in building a stronger, more just, and prosperous nation,” he said. — DayakDaily
