PBDS pays tribute to late legal advisor Christopher Sawan

KUCHING, Sept 5: Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) deeply mourns the passing of the late Christopher Sawan Jiram, whom permanent chairman Dr John Brian described as their legal advisor, senior lawyer, and a true Dayak fighter.

In a statement, John said the late Christopher’s departure marked the loss of a courageous figure who dedicated his life to defending the rights of the Dayak community and upholding justice.

“Christopher Sawan was widely recognised as a distinguished legal mind. He served with honour as a practising lawyer in Brunei before his retirement and later devoted his expertise and wisdom to PBDS.

“His commitment as legal advisor provided invaluable guidance to the party, strengthening our cause and safeguarding the principles upon which PBDS was founded,” he said.

He added that Christopher will be remembered not only for his sharp legal acumen but also for his unwavering spirit in the Dayak struggle, adding that his legacy as a fighter, lawyer, and advisor will continue to inspire the present and future generations.

“On behalf of the leadership and members of PBDS, I extend our deepest condolences to his family. We share your grief and stand with you in this moment of sorrow.

“May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his contributions forever remain a beacon of courage and justice for our people.”
