KUCHING, Feb 22: Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) will not be accepting politicians who jump from one political party to another as its members.
PBDS deputy president Major (R) Moses Ripai in a statement said politicians and candidates who win in the state election and subsequently jump to another political party will have to face the music.
“The party is not accepting the people of “jumping frog”.
“We have no problem with the froggies, they can jump how many times they want, but they will have to face the party’s constitution,” he said in a statement.
At the same time, Moses advised the Dayaks to register themselves properly as members of the political party if they want to stand as candidates in the coming state election.
He added that the political party will be organising a gathering for the Dayaks in March in Bintulu subjected to the Covid-19 situation.
Moses explained that the purpose of the gathering is to conduct surveys on issues plaguing the Dayak community and the stagnant issue of human capital development amongst the Dayaks.
He disclosed PBDS will be the event organiser and the gathering is expected to see attendance by Dayak intellectual groups, PBDS sympathisers, supporters and its members.
Moses noted the proposal to organise a gathering arose after various rounds of discussions and communications were held and that the purpose of the gathering is to set up a PBDS think tank group which is to be led by a group of intellectuals.
Moses added that there was pressure from the ground for the gathering to be held.
He also noted that there were calls from former party leaders and some well known academicians and politicians in Sarawak for the gathering to be organised. — DayakDaily
