MIRI, 26 Oct: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Women chief Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah says that the wing’s election machinery is prepared to face the State’s impending 12th election.

She revealed the said machinery has been activated in light of the easing of movement restriction orders.

“Actually we were prepared way before the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) term ended in June this year, and then the Emergency was put in place to prevent the further spread of Covid-19,” she said here today during a press conference.

Citing the downtrend in new daily Covid-19 cases in Sarawak, she noted it boosts people’s confidence to go out as long as they continue to adhere strictly to standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Following the easing of movement restrictions, many sectors has started reopening, and from the political aspect, the PBB Women’s wing has noted the situation has improved, she said.

“So with that (reopening sectors) being allowed, PBB Women has reactivated our election machinenary for the coming election,” she pointed out.

Since last week, speculation was rife that Sarawak’s election might be held before year end.

However, the Emergency proclamation by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on July 30, means that the State election can only be held after the Emergency Order ends in Feb 2022 or if the Order is revoked by the King earlier. ā€” DayakDaily
