KUCHING, April 8: Former Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) members joining Progressive Democratic Action Party (PDP) is a manifestation of support towards Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s leadership.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice president Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah opined if Abang Johari’s leadership is unacceptable, there is no reason for those in the opposition to dissolve their party and join another party that forms the government.

“I look at it from that perspective, and it is a positive matter. In the end, it would help to better represent Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and the Sarawak government,” he said.

Abdul Karim was responding to reporters’ questions about Parti Sarawak Bersatu’s (PSB) dissolution recently and its members joining the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) at his office in Baitulmakmur Building 2 today.

Meanwhile, when asked about Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) president Chong Chieng Jen’s statement that PSB is a ‘party for a single election,’ Abdul Karim said PSB is one of the parties that went hard against Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the previous Sarawak Election.

He pointed out that PSB performed better compared to DAP by winning four seats, while DAP only managed to secure two seats.

“This shows that they have the strength and support, and even with such strength and support, they are willing to dissolve the party and support the present State government.

“We should look at it holistically that this is a positive thing, and not because they are only present during the election,” he added. — DayakDaily
