KUCHING, May 9: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) will hold its party convention across four zones in Sarawak starting July through September this year as part of efforts to strengthen the party at the grassroots level, says its secretary-general Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

He said the decision was made during the party’s first meeting for this year, chaired by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, following the last meeting held in November 2025.

“The southern zone convention will be chaired by PBB senior vice-president Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, while the Betong zone will be overseen by deputy president Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

“For the central zone, I myself will be in charge, while the northern zone will be led by deputy president Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan,” he told reporters after the meeting.

He added that the conventions aim to bring together party members at the grassroots level to engage and strengthen internal unity.

“The focus is to strengthen the party and prepare for whatever comes, including possibly the next State Election,” he said.

However, he noted that the theme for the convention has yet to be finalised.

“We have not decided on the theme yet. The main organising committee for all four zonal conventions will be chaired by Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas,” he said.

Nanta also said that the first coordination meeting for the convention has yet to be called, and details such as the starting zone and schedule will only be finalised after further discussions.

“For now, we are expected to start in July, but the exact dates have not been set,” he added.

On party membership, Nanta revealed that PBB currently has 396,000 members statewide. — DayakDaily
