KUCHING, Jan 9: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) will establish a new wing to cater to youths aged 18 to 28-years-old.

Similar to the existing PBB women and youth sections, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the new faction is created to focus on that specific group of Sarawakians.

While there is the issue of an aging population, he said all age groups including the young and middle-aged must also be taken care of other than the elderly.

“As we all know, this is the digital era and the needs of the community are changing.

“PBB is a dynamic party, so we also adjust ourselves to the aspiration of the young and Sarawakians at large,” he told the press at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today.

Earlier at 8pm, Abang Johari as the president of PBB had chaired the party’s supreme council meeting to discuss related matters, among others.

For the new wing to be official, he said PBB’s constitution will be amended accordingly, but later in June during the Triennial General Meeting (TGM).

From now onwards until April, he said meetings will be held at every PBB branch which are to be coordinated by a committee.

“Now we already have a committee to look into the establishment of this wing. Among the co-chairmen are YB Lukanisman (Awang Sauni) and Fazzrudin (Abdul Rahman),” Abang Johari added.

Also present at the press conference were PBB deputy presidents Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan. — DayakDaily
