PBB Tamin denies claims it is recruiting members from other GPS component parties

PBB Tamin has vowed to support the GPS candidate for the Selangau Parliamentary seat.

SIBU, Oct 17: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Tamin chief Meyu@Mew Bruang has refuted allegations that his side is being underhanded.

To prove that, he pledged to fully support any Gabungan Party Sarawak (GPS) candidate for the Selangau seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).

According to Meyu, the allegation came about as PBB Tamin has been recruiting new members.

“We take in members who don’t have a party and they are not from any (other) GPS component party,” he stressed.

According to him, his branch has also initiated a programme to “rehabilitate” members from opposition parties to return so as to strengthen GPS component parties.

“Our action is to ‘reduce’ opposition party members in the Tamin state constituency. If possible, we want no opposition in Parliament (to contest for the Selangau seat). We want the GPS candidate to win uncontested in GE15,” he emphasised.

Meyu gave his assurance that his branch would give its solid support to any GPS candidate contesting for the Selangau Parliamentary seat in GE15.

“We will work together to help the GPS candidate win the Selangau seat,” he added.

He hopes that the candidate who will represent GPS will be able to help the people of Selangau impartially and be always fair in providing services to the people.

Touching on the launch of two new PBB sub-branches under PBB Tamin, Meyu said the purpose was to extend its influence in Tamin and to facilitate the recruitment of new members.

Nyawin Judi was elected as the head of Dijih Tamin branch while Rubaidi Rosli is the head of the Sungai Melinau Selangau branch.

The two branches have a total of 150 new members.

With this, PBB Tamin now has more than 4,000 members. — DayakDaily
