KUCHING, Oct 21: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) has finalised its list of candidates for the coming Sarawak Election.

Its secretary-general Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said however, he had no idea on the status of candidate lists for the other component parties in Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), namely Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS).

“For other component parties, I do not know whether their list of candidates has been finalised or not,” he said at a press conference after officiating at a Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) media engagement session at a hotel in Kuching today.

Nanta who is also the KPDNHEP minister also said that GPS has been prepared for the State polls since 2019.

However, due to Covid-19, the State polls could not take place this year.

“Nevertheless, I have been instructed by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg to ensure that our GPS operations rooms for the election are mobilised since 2019 and various courses have been and will be implemented for electoral campaigns at any time,” he added.

When asked whether GPS has discussed seat distribution with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), he said the decision will be made by the chief minister.

“We will have to wait for Abang Johari to decide. This matter is not being publicly discussed,” he emphasised. – DayakDaily
